If you’ve ever seen photos of Canada before, chances are those photos were from Alberta – more specifically Banff or Jasper, two of the most scenic (and popular) national parks in the country. It took me 27 years to make it across Canada and finally visit the west coast – and I gotta say, I’m ashamed I didn’t do it before.
It doesn’t really matter what you’re into when visiting the Rockies – there’s definitely something for everyone up there. If you happen to be into photography and hiking like I am, there is no limit to what you can do there. I visited the area in the Summer of 2020 during the COVID pandemic which resulted in smaller crowds than usual and some facilities being closed for the season. Note that the Rockies border British Columbia and that I did a 5 day hike in Assiniboine Provincial Park during my stay in the area – you will find the photos from that hike on the BC page of my website.
